In January 2026, the Blender team updated its project page to say that the project is currently on hold. According to Dalai Felinto, the team is instead focusing on Android tablets first.
The news was first spotted by art educator and YouTuber Brad Colbowl. There has been no reason given for the project's hold, and many community developers seem to be curious as well.
Prior to shelving the project, Blender had hoped to release a first version that focused on sculpting and basic object manipulation. More advanced features, like the Grease Pencil and storyboarding, would be made available later.
