Search functionality in Photos

What the hell happened to the search function in Photos? Ever since the new update, the search function got completely neutered. I get 3 results for a search that should yield 30, or 40 results for a search that should make 100+ pop up (like when I search for pics of my cats). Anyone know why this is going on?
