Update: For 90 days we have tracked 2,500+ unique players in a Minecraft world with no rules or admins. Here is how the political map shifted.
This is our Day 90 update on our experiment! For those new here, this is a social experiment on a server where survival is brutally hard, resources are locked to specific biomes, and there are absolutely no rules or admins enforcing borders. In our Day 60 update, the map was dominated by a few massive, continent-spanning superpowers. Now that we are here at day 90? The landscape has changed significantly. The most noticeable change is the complete erasure of Tianguo. Last month, they owned nearly the entire western hemisphere. This month? Total balkanization. Their empire shattered and from the ashes came nearly a dozen smaller nations like Eisenerfestung, Scrungleton, and Zenith. Last month a group called Svearike tried to designate the southern desert as a "Free Territory" national park. Claiming land you can't physically defend never works out in the end though. They got entirely pushed out by new expansions like the massive Crimson Valley and Southern Gardens, instead pulling back to their original, centralized island. While the West collapsed and was reborn, the East consolidated. Eclipse's Territory swallowed up a massive chunk of the central-eastern continent, while the mushroom island nation of Yeetistan actually managed to hold their ground and thrive. Yeetistan remains one of the worlds most populated and active nations. Since the server relies strictly on plugins and its own unique mechanics, everything you see is just pure, vanilla human nature at work. Give people a sandbox, and they will immediately invent (and defend) borders! Feel free to ask if you want to know the history of a specific spot on the map, I'm sure a few residents of those nations may be poking around and happy to answer any questions. submitted by /u/Tylerrr93 [link] [comments]
