Bracketologists saying MSU back in line for No. 2 seed after great week

Michigan State basketball's impressive week has them climbing up the seed lines among a few of the notable bracketologists.

The Spartans put together an awesome week of hoops in the Hoosiers state, with road wins over top 10 Purdue and Indiana. Those two wins extended the Spartans winning streak to four games and puts them firmly in position for a top seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. But the question, now, is how high could Michigan State land?

A trio of notable bracketologists / college basketball media members instantly weighed in on the Spartans' recent victory over Indiana, stating Michigan State is firmly in play for a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. You can see these three responses embedded below:

You can't have a much better week than what Michigan State just did in two tough road games. Away wins over Purdue and IU in the span of three days is really difficult to do.

Michigan State was a 2-seed last year, and there's an argument that this year's team is more complete.

I’m really not sure about that.

The following would all make sense as 2 seeds right now:

  • Florida (duh)
  • Houston
  • Michigan State
  • Nebraska
  • Illinois
  • Iowa State

Pick your favorite 4 and I’d have no issue with it https://t.co/b0wPX8A42A

Michigan State wins AT Indiana. Sweeps the trip to the state!

Spartans needed road wins, it got them. Big results and shot it well from the outside today.

Michigan State is very likely up to a 2 seed now. Indiana is more in a next 4 out range. Need a 2-0 week + multiple BTT…

With the win over Indiana on Sunday, Michigan State now sits at 24-5 overall and 14-4 in Big Ten play. They have notable wins over Arkansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Illinois and Purdue, and four of their five losses were to teams that are either ranked or were recently ranked. So the Spartans certainly have put together an impressive resume and one that puts them in line for a high seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Michigan State only has two games remaining in the regular season, with Rutgers coming to town before a road trip to rival Michigan to wrap up the season. Then, Michigan State will have the Big Ten Tournament with the Spartans a near lock for a triple-bye until Friday.

It's funny how quickly things can change because following the blowout loss at Wisconsin just two weeks ago, it appeared the Spartans were slipping. But four wins in a row against teams that all are in consideration for the NCAA Tournament has quickly changed things. I believe Michigan State is at a minimum a lock for a No. 3 seed (as long as they don't lose to Rutgers on Thursday), and have a great opportunity of playing up to a No. 2 seed as they experts are saying.

Selection Sunday is just two weeks away, and then, the true madness will really begin.
