Ian Wright was quick to point out what went wrong for Leny Yoro after Maxence Lacroix’s early goal in the Crystal Palace match against Manchester United.

Oliver Glasner’s side travelled to Old Trafford on Sunday and wasted no time taking the lead, surprising Manchester United inside the first five minutes.

Brennan Johnson delivered a corner from a Palace set-piece and Lacroix met it with a good header, putting the visitors in front.

Yoro was supposed to be tracking Lacroix but lost focus, giving Palace the opportunity they needed to take advantage early on.

Since Lisandro Martinez suffered a calf injury in training last month, Yoro has stepped back into Manchester United’s starting line-up under Michael Carrick.

The French centre-back played the full match in United’s 1-0 win over Everton earlier this week and kept his place for the fixture against Crystal Palace.

Wright stated during the half-time break of Sunday’s match that Yoro’s primary error in the matchup with Lacroix was failing to keep his eyes on his opponent.

“I thought [Man Utd] were going to start a lot quicker than they have,” he said, according to the Premier League’s official website.

“The ball’s in the air for so much time. That’s a really good header. Yoro’s not even looking.

“It was in the air long enough for a Man Utd player to go and attack it. Lacroix has done really well to direct it in there.”

It was Lacroix who grabbed the spotlight early for Crystal Palace, but his day took a turn for the worse in the second half after he picked up a red card.

The 25-year-old brought down Matheus Cunha inside the box, resulting in both a penalty and a sending-off following a VAR review.

Bruno Fernandes converted from the spot to level the score, then set up Benjamin Sesko just eight minutes later to put United ahead.

Yoro went on to finish another full match under Carrick, playing all 90 minutes as United held on for a 2-1 win over Palace at Old Trafford.
